http://headspacej.blogspot.com/2007/04/designing-schools-for-present-age.htmlI read a blog titled Designing Schools for the Present Age: Thoughts on a Recent Editorial by Bill Gates written by Jeremy Heibert. These blog mentioned three key points bill Gates made about our educational system. These thoughts are true and really made me question and think about how our education program works. Like was stated, just because two children are the same age, does not mean they are at the same academic or maturity level. Also, not all children will respond positively to a lecture style classroom setting. Using some kind of instructional design with technology would allow students to work at their specific level and wouldn’t hold them back. Also, it would allow teachers to modify activities so that it catered to students’ needs. While this would be WONDERFUL, it would also take a lot of time and money. . This is something that will progress over a period of years, not overnight. I do think that our education system will someday use some kind of online learning tool that will cater to student and teacher needs. However, this is something that won’t happen easily. It will be supported by many, but criticized by others. It will definitely be a part in our education’s future, but when?
