Slumps (BLOG 5)

June 5, 2007

http://ome.ksu.edu/id/blog/idos/article/addressing_the_slump/I read a blog titled “Addressing the Slump.” I felt this was appropriate since the end of the school year is near and not only are students in a slump, but I’m pretty sure the teachers are too. While I do believe that slumps will occur, it should be something that teachers try to avoid. It seems indefinite that they will happen at some point. However, it is the job of the instructor to lead the students out of this slump. So, as was stated, I guess it should be every instructor’s goal to develop a “slumpless” course. Strategically planning projects in a specific order, developing good community and support, being proactive with obstacles that may occur, etc. Thinking about myself as the instructor I realize that it is not only important to think about my students not going into a slump, but also what can I do so that I do not go into a slump.
